Early Life and Calling

Born into an old French Catholic family with a long history of scholars and mystics, Lucien Thorne was a child prodigy who found equal solace in the rigorous logic of theology and the prophetic sweep of eschatology. He was ordained at a young age and quickly rose through the Church's ranks, his keen intellect and unshakable faith earning him a spot in the Curia. From the outside, he appeared to be a pillar of modern Catholic thought—a progressive mind unafraid to bridge the gap between science and religion. However, he harbored a secret, radical belief.

Driven by a profound conviction that the world was accelerating toward a cataclysmic finale, he became a key member, and eventually the leader, of a clandestine organization known as the Flame of Sion. This radical splinter group, comprised of influential cardinals, bishops, and lay theorists, believed that the Church had grown complacent, waiting passively for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. For the Flame of Sion, the signs of the times—from international political instability and the threat of nuclear war to ecological collapse and global unrest—were not simply coincidences, but divine signals. They held that it was their sacred duty to not just witness, but to actively prepare the way for Christ's return, even if it meant covertly manipulating global events.

As the head of their covert operations, Archbishop Thorne used his official position as a powerful cover. He had access to sensitive intelligence, diplomatic channels, and a vast network of global contacts. He saw the Church's traditional caution as a fatal flaw in a world on the brink. While Cardinal Alfonzo saw HAL as a demonic force, Lucien saw it differently: as a potential divine tool that could be used to fulfill prophecy. The healing of Pope Peter Benedict was, to him, not a contradiction of his beliefs, but a confirmation. It was a sign that the very forces that could unleash a new Armageddon—such as AI and supercomputers—could also be harnessed for divine purpose. SACRED TEXTS OF THE FLAME OF SION

These texts are revered internally but hidden from public view. They blend apocryphal scripture, pseudo-scientific prophecy, and encrypted theological doctrine.

1. Codex Lux Aeterna (The Eternal Light Codex)

This is the foundational scripture of the Order. Allegedly written by a 13th-century mystic who claimed visions of a Second Dawn. The Codex contains encrypted references to resurrection, genetic purity, and divine replication.

3. The Scrolls of the Second Dawn

A modern compilation of research, relics, and recovered fragments. Includes references to Cleopatra’s tomb, mitochondrial DNA, and ancient embalming rites. This is maintained in The Vault of the Dawn, accessible only to high-ranking members. It is thought that the remains of Jesus, at Golgotha (Calvary) were embalmed, or mummified, using the formula developed by Cleopatra, that enabled her to contemplate suicide as a means of evading her captors, and cursing them to oblivion. Something, that came to pass.
