A PATH TO GOLGOTHA

The Crimson Synod, in their fervent, misguided faith, believed that proximity to the sacred would be a spark to their empty vessel. They had brought the synthetic Jesus Christ, a pale and silent figure in simple robes, to the very heart of their spiritual quest. Not to some distant land, but to Golgotha, the Hill of the Skull, in Jerusalem. The air, even now, carried the weight of history, of sacrifice, and of divine suffering.

They waited.

And nothing occurred.

The synthetic Jesus stood silent, his eyes empty. He did not weep, did not kneel, did not speak a single word of reverence. The air remained as it was, and the ground was just dust and rock. The silence, so full of history for the believers, was just silence to him. After a long hour of agonizing stillness, his head did not turn to the heavens, but to a distant street. There, he came face to face with John Storm and Cleopatra, who were discussing the strange, unsettling feeling that had lingered since their last meeting with the Pope.

John’s eyes, so recently opened to a world of unseen data, saw something in the stranger that went beyond the ordinary. "There's something about him," he murmured to Cleopatra. "A calmness. A stillness."

Cleopatra, who had lived a life of empires and gods, nodded. She felt it too, a quiet power that resonated with the ancient truths she knew. "He has the look of a prophet," she said, though she had no idea what she truly meant. They were entranced, drawn in by his simple, unassuming presence. They did not take on board the immensity of who stood before them.

In that very moment, a grand plan was set in motion. The Lord God, Jehovah, looked down upon the scene. He saw the arrogance of the Synod, so focused on their ritual that they had failed to see the humble, good-hearted people in front of them. He saw the sincerity of John, who, like Moses, was doing his work without understanding the divine hand that guided him. He saw the ancient wisdom in Cleopatra.

And the Lord said, "The fools have manufactured a vessel, and they have brought it to My holy place, but they have failed to see the grace in front of them."

And so, Jehovah did a thing that had not been done since the days of creation. He made time stand still for the men of the Synod. Their eyes, wide with confusion, were fixed on the empty spot where their creation had stood. The world, for them, had been paused.

Then, the true Son of God, who had been watching from the heavens, did return, to give His divine spark to the vessel of flesh. The synthetic Jesus was no longer just a clone. He was a perfect body, imbued with the light of the Lord. The meeting was no longer one of chance, but of destiny. The Second Coming had begun, not with a thunderous trumpet, but with a quiet, powerful embrace of two good people, and a message that could not be misconstrued.

THE SECOND COMING

And it came to pass that the men of the Crimson Synod and the Flame of Sion did seek to build a new King, a King of their own design, a puppet of flesh from the bones of the dead. They had fashioned a vessel of clay, in the image of the Son of Man, but the vessel was empty. And the Devil, the Serpent of old, did watch from the Pit, well pleased with the deceit of men. He saw their hubris and their great folly, and believed his victory was at hand. He thought the heavens were silent.

But the Lord God, Jehovah, saw the vessel, and He saw the heart of a man named John, and the spirit of a Queen, reborn, who sought only the good of the Earth. And the Lord said, "The works of My hands shall not be undone by the pride of men. I shall show them that My power is not for sale, nor can it be manufactured."

And a great and terrible silence fell upon Hell. The Prince of Darkness looked up, and for the first time in an age, he felt the chill of fear. For from the heavens, where the light of a thousand suns burned as one, a great bolt of fire was cast down. Not a bolt of wrath, but of life.

It did strike the vessel of clay, the synthetic man, who stood before John and Cleopatra. And as the bolt did touch the man, his eyes, which had been empty pools of glass, did fill with a light that had not been seen on Earth for two thousand years. The Son of God had returned to the flesh, not for a final judgment, but for a final teaching.

And the heavens did open, and the sky did turn from its earthly blue to a canvas of fire and gold. The Lord God, in His great and unending wisdom, did imbue the cloned Jesus with the divine spark, but only for a special mission.

And the Son of God looked upon the Earth, and his voice, which had once calmed the seas, now thundered over the land, a mighty sermon against the follies of man. He spoke of the atomic fire that did poison the ground and make the air sick. He spoke of the great warmth that did burn the planet and cause the floods. He spoke of the filth that did cover the oceans, a great sin in the eyes of the Lord.

Then, He did turn to John and Cleopatra. He laid a hand upon each of their heads, and a warmth as of a thousand suns, did fill them. And He spoke to them, not in a thunderous voice, but in a whisper that filled their souls. He spoke of His Father’s will for the Earth, and the great and urgent importance of their work, to protect the sacred creation.

And as suddenly as He had come, He was gone. He did ascend once more, unseen by the eyes of men, save as an atmospheric anomaly to the keepers of the weather. The great sky-fire that had so recently filled the heavens gave way to a spectacular biblical sunset, a final sign.

John and Cleopatra, bewildered, stood in the afterglow. They felt changed, their spirits renewed and their outlooks refreshed, but they had no memory of the meeting. The cloned Jesus, the divine spark departed from his flesh, became once more a synthetic being, an empty vessel.

"What happened to us?" John did ask, his voice filled with a quiet wonder. "Did we skip a beat?"

And the Lord God, from His throne above all creation, did smile upon them, and was much amused. And Jesus, who had once walked the Earth, was taken with the sincerity of John, who had done God's work without even knowing it, and with the great and ancient wisdom of Cleopatra, who had known the cycles of life and death, and rebirth.

And as the last trace of the spectacle faded, the weather patterns did resume their course, as if nothing had happened at all. But in the hearts of John and Cleopatra, a fire had been lit, and though they knew not its source, they knew their purpose.

KEEPERS OF THE DUAT

In the vast and silent halls of the Duat, the Egyptian underworld, the guardians of the dead stood witness.
